Cycle Sunshine Coast’s non-elite mass participation event, The Sunny Coast Century, is back with a new an improved course that is seen to be believed!
The picturesque, fully timed ride of 97km ride starts and finishes in the idilc country town of Eudlo and features some of the most beautiful views, roads, climbs and towns the coast has to offer.
This brand new course has been designed by Australian Cycling legend and Australian Cycling Academy Director Sportif, Henk Vogels
The first climb of the day starts just 6km from Eudlo and is the iconic ‘Montville' climb – with fresh legs and at approximately six kilometres long and at a very gradual average of 5.5% incline, it’s a climb that won’t bother even your most beginner level of riders.
You then wind your way past Gerard’s Lookout, down to Maleny and along the Balmoral Ridge before eventually finding yourself at the foot of the dreaded Postmans Track! The gentle slopes of Montville with be long forgotten as you tackle what can only be described as a roller coaster accent of 2.4km at 12% average!
From the top, you’ll see that it was well worth the effort though, with arguably the most picturesque 20km of cycling on the Coast.
With views from the right of the spectacular Glass House Mountains across the hinterland ridge, past Mary Cairncross Reserve and down the hair-raising super fast decent in Landsborough, from there it’s only 14km of rolling roads to go back into Eudlo.
This year we're also supporting the Mental Wheels Foundation as our official Charity Partner with 10% of your registration fee donated directly to the Mental Wheels Foundation.
For those also wishing to fundraise a fundraising profile will be created for you plus a FREE eight week training plan to get you prepared to take on the Sunny Coast Century.
